We are currently using Automod at level 4 (which is the most strict setting), as we believe serious questions about course content should not be caught by this. If you experience the mod blocking messages incorrectly at this setting, please let us now!
#### Nightbot
In addition to Automod, we recommmend also using [Nightbot](https://nightbot.tv/). Nightbot can more easily be configured to ban all twitch Emotes (the "emoji" from Twitch) from your chat, keeping it a bit more organised.
To enable NightMod, log in with your twitch account on their website and click "Join Channel".
To configure NightMod, go to "Spam Protection". By default NightMod will remove any messages containing links or more than 3 twitch emotes. Unfortunately the default message NightMod will reply with is a random Duke Nukem Forever quote, which might not be what you want.
Under "Links->Options" change the message to something like: `Please do not post links in chat.`
Under "Blacklist Words/Phrases" change the message to something like: `Using emotes is not allowed in order to maintain a somewhat functional chat.` and fill the field `Blacklist` with the words found [here](BlackList Nightbot).
#### Teaching Assistants as moderators
Due to the large and uncontrolled setting however, it is probably wise to ask one or more teaching assistants to be present to moderate chat. To this end:
- Make them a moderator by typing `/mod USERNAME` in the chat with `USERNAME` being the username of your TA.
