Resolve "Restrict the number of slots in one configuration"

Georgios Andreadis requested to merge 222-restrict-the-number-of-slots-in-one-configuration into development

Ensures that the number of slots cannot cause wrap-around time slot configs. Also fixes the issue that the num. slots could be negative.
